GRAND PIANO REBUILDING AND OPTIMIZATION

REBUILDING IN OUR OWN WORKSHOP

REBUILDING IN OUR OWN WORKSHOP

PianoVisions specializes in grand piano rebuilding and optimization. We have our own workshop and can perform all kinds of work for you.

We rebuild a grand piano action entirely to your needs as a pianist. In our showroom we have several grand pianos on which you can experience what is possible.

Also for a restringing with new tuning pins, soundboard repairs, installation of carbon-fiber action parts, installation of Phoenix – bridge agraphes you have come to the right place.

OPTIMIZATION PLAYABILITY THROUGH PRECISION TOUCH DESIGN

Precision Touch Design (PTD) is an innovative technique, which can be used to optimize the touch and sound of your grand piano.

PTD provides a solution for too heavy or too light touchweight of the keys or uneven touchweight. When mechanism parts such as hammer heads are replaced, key touch can be maintained or improved using PTD.
For pianists who prefer a light touch due to physical limitations, PTD offers a solution. PTD was developed by David Stanwood and has been known among pianists and piano professionals in America since the 1990s.

CARBON FIBRE WESSELL, NICKEL & GROSS PARTS

CARBON FIBRE WESSELL, NICKEL & GROSS PARTS

We are an official installer of Wessell, Nickel & Gross carbon-fiber action parts.

For 100 years, piano parts have been made of wood. This material is strong and relatively light. However, it also has a major drawback: it is susceptible to moisture. When humidity is high, it will expand, causing the pivot points to move much more heavily. When humidity is low, this is actually too light and can cause noise.

There is the perfect solution: action parts made of carbon fiber. Ultra light, enormously strong but above all very stable. A WNG piano action still plays even under water!

PianoVisions is an official installer of this wonderful solution. Parts are available for every major piano brand, even Steinway & Sons!

PHOENIX TECHNOLOGY INSTALLER

PianoVisions is an official installer of Phoenix technology in used grand pianos. Phoenix is the british company of inventor Richard Dain, known for innovative piano parts such as bridge agraphs and the carbon-fiber soundboard.

Carbon fibre soundboard

The heart of a grand piano is the soundboard. The soundboard amplifies the sound of the strings. Without the soundboard, only a faint sound is audible. Traditionally, a soundboard is made of wood. The Phoenix soundboard is made from a very thin layer of carbon fiber. Because it can vibrate much more freely, the sound is fuller and more powerful. This allows a relatively small grand piano of, say, 170cm to sound like a semi-concert grand piano!

A Phoenix carbon fiber soundboard is made at McLaren. McLaren is known for Formula One.

The benefits of a carbon fiber soundboard:

  • extremely strong
  • insensitive to fluctuations in temperature and humidity
  • significantly higher sound output compared to a traditional soundboard
  • tuning is maintained longer

Bridge agraphes

The transmission of sound from the strings to the bridge on the soundboard is done by bridge pins in traditional grand pianos. The string runs zigzag between two such “nails.” The Phoenix bridge agraphs increase the efficiency of sound transfer to the soundboard significantly.

Advantages:

  • fuller tone
  • clear sound
  • tuning remains stable much longer
